The Alfred Gessow Rotorcraft Center at the Department of Aerospace Engineering at the University of Maryland actively participates and organizes activities hosted by the Vertical Flight Society and the Federal City Chapter of the Vertical Flight Society. These include the annual Student Design Competition, the Design-Build-Vertical Flight Competition, Quarterly Dinner meetings of the Federal City Chapter, South East region Lichten Competition, national workshops on emerging topics, and other outreach events.

The links at the top of the page will take you to previous UMD entries (and victories!) in the design competition.
